On Trying New Sports

I'm a big sports fan. I play basketball. I'm a geek for baseball. I enjoy watching football. Hell, to this day, I'm still amazed by pro wrestling (Rocky! Rocky!). But badminton? Never was a follower of the sport. Heck, I don't even know the rules of the game. Recently though, our company held a badminton tournament and for whatever-reason-that-I-have-no-frigging-idea-why, I joined the said tourney without any playing experience in badminton. The results, however?

Then again, I just stood there while my partner did most of the work!
Memorable experience indeed!

A certain weekend back home

Last weekend was a pretty special one as the girlfriend was finally visiting my beloved hometown of Orani. It was definitely a fun and memorable trip though the weather didn't exactly cooperate with some of our plans (like seeing up close the giant cross atop a mountain). Come to think of it, it did eventually, (which meant that the big, bright sun finally showed its big, bright self) but only when we were already waiting for a bus back to the big city. Ugh. Talk about poor timing. But wet and windy weather aside, the 3D2N Bataan/Subic stay was certainly filled with a lot of firsts and as cheesy as it sounds, unforgettable moments. A flashback of these memories is in order and let me summarize it in the form of notes. - The almost 3 hour trip to Orani wasn't the first bus ride the couple took (that honor goes to another 3-hour ride from Hagnaya Port to Cebu City). Prologue It was a rainy Sunday morning when I trooped into the mall for a weekend rendezvous. Good thing I got into the mall just before the rain fell as my only protection from the downpour was my trusted red hoodie and its soft, fluffy fabric. I had recently lost my umbrella to an old lady, who had served her master for 80 years, living just right across our unit. She apparently had more need for it as it would allow her to use her money on food items instead of buying a parasol. Or at least, that's what my imaginative partner for this weekend thought so after I told her someone stole my umbrella. Clever. I arrived earlier than the agreed time and immediately noticed the activity area swarming with people thanks to an Oishi event. How the 29th was Celebrated

August has always been a special month for me because of one obvious reason - it's that one day of the year where Facebook notifies my friends about an increment in my age. Yes, it's a special day but in terms of celebrations, I'd say that for the last couple of years, it's been hovering between lackluster and predictable. Mostly it's been lunch outs with the family or drinks with the boys or dinner dates. While this year wasn't entirely different, I'd say it was an interesting one due to the arrival of a new person and the departure of a dear one *sobs*. Oh, and there are the old reliables, of course. August 14, Friday A good friend from graduate school, who was also a Leo, sent out invites for a casual Friday dinner in commemoration of her nth birthday.
